The current release is revision 4. There are 18 required documents which are referred to as PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) elements. 2020-05-17 PPAP should be terminated, root cause determined, corrective action implemented and the PFMEA and Control Plan updated. After validating the improvements, another PPAP run is initiated. The Supplier is free to do additional PPAP related activities above and beyond what is required AIAG PPAP 4th Edition, March 2006.

The PPAP package is a series of documents which are formally approved by the supplier and customer. The form that summarizes this package is PPAP shall apply to internal and external organization sites (see Glossary) of bulk materials, production materials, production or service parts. For bulk materials, PPAP is not required unless specified by the authorized customer representative.* *Ford Motor requires PPAP of Bulk Material Suppliers. The AIAG PPAP Manual does not specify how many parts should be inspected. However, the industry standard we see is 6 pieces from the first lot.
